Marriage Preparation
Marriage Preparation at St. John Neumann
Mission statement:
To prepare engaged couples for the sacrament of matrimony in the Catholic Church using the Marriage in the Lord workbook. This course satisfies the Diocese of Orange's marriage preparation requirement (10 hours).
Who:
Several married couples facilitate this program so that the engaged couples can learn from the married couples lived experiences.
What:
Topics presented are: the effect of your family of origin on your marriage, ways of improving communication, conflict resolution, finances, sexuality, children & discipline, Natural Family Planning, values & conscience, and spirituality.
How:
A married couple presents one of the topics. 2-3 engaged couples sit at a table with a facilitating married couple. This provides an opportunity for engaged couples to get to know one another along with getting to know the married couples as the weeks progress.
When:
Twice a year on the 4 Friday evenings of September (starting after Labor Day and possibly extending to the 1st Friday in October) and the 4 Friday evenings of January (starting after Jan. 1 & possibly extending to the 1st Friday in February). The class is from 7-9:30 PM and is held in the Fr. Conlon Hall.
