First Communion II
HOW TO GO TO CONFESSION
You have looked into your heart to see where you have made the unloving choices, you are sorry for your sins and you are willing to change. To receive the forgiving peace of Christ, you confess (tell) your sins to the priest in this way:
| A. | Father welcomes me. I greet him and sit down/kneel down. |
| B. | I make the Sign of the Cross clearly. |
| C. | Father might pray or read from the Bible. |
| D. | Have I had habitual contempt for less-educated people or people of different racial, national, economic and religious groups? |
| E. | Now I confess my sins by telling father I am a boy/girl, I am eight years old, this is my first confession and these are my sins . . . (I tell father what I did; why I did it.) |
| F. | Father will give me an act of penance. |
| G. | Father invites me to tell God that I am sorry, using the prayer of contrition. |
| H. | Father extends his hand over me and forgives me in the name of God and the Church. |
| I. | I thank father and make the Sign of the Cross. |
| J. | I go out of the confessional room and do my penance in the church. |
